I Wish I Had Known Then What I Know Now
You can do everything you think you're supposed to do during pregnancy and still reach labor and postpartum wishing you had known more. That was my experience. I went to all the appointments, trusted the guidance, even went to Lamaze classes, I was prepared for anything, so I thought. The reality is I didn't understand was how many choices there were, which questions to ask, or how to speak up when something didn't feel right for me.
Two cesarean births later, the poor communication, lack of the right questions and what ifs have stayed with me decades after giving birth. The feelings of dismissal, grief, and isolation in my own pregnancy and birth experiences have shaped how I offer care to clients today. The realization of it isn't about trying to control exactly how birth unfolds. It's about knowing your options, understanding the decisions in front of you, and having people around you who listen before deciding what you need is just as important as your health.
I've spent over 15-years educating, caring for and supporting families through pregnancy, birth, feeding, and postpartum. I now understand, people need more than information. They need someone who knows what matters, know what to look for, and takes the time to make sure they understand it too.
At Roots Midwifery, we offer you the time and space to ask the questions you didn't know you should be asking, help you understand your choices, prepare for what comes next, and have experienced people beside you along the way. You don't need to know everything and every pregnancy and birth is not going to be perfect. However, you deserve care that makes sure you're not left wishing you had prepared and known more.

Come As You Are. We'll Start From There.
You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. If you're looking for experienced care with more room for questions, preparation, and what matters to you, let's talk about what that can look like for you.
